Reliable raw material with a high CaCO₃ content
The Lietavská Lúčka Cement Plant extracts limestone from the Lietavská Svinná – Babkov quarry, known for the consistent quality of its deposit and its long-standing mining tradition. Each year, approximately 100,000 tons of lump limestone are supplied for industrial processing.
Limestone Processing
Limestone is a fundamental raw material for the production of:
- Quicklime – produced by thermal treatment (calcination) of limestone,
- Ground limestone – used as an additive or raw material with a high CaCO₃ content,
- Air lime and hydrated lime – intended for specific technological and environmental applications.
Areas of Application
Owing to its chemical and physical properties, limestone is suitable for diverse industrial applications:
- Construction – as a component of mortar, plaster, and other building materials, improving strength, breathability, and moisture regulation.
- Agriculture – ground limestone is applied to neutralize soil acidity and enhance fertility.
- Environmental and hygienic applications – lime is used for water treatment, pH regulation, as well as sanitation and disinfection purposes.
A Reliable Raw Material for Industry
Our deposit provides limestone with a stable calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) content and properties that enable versatile processing. Limestone from the Lietavská Svinná – Babkov quarry is therefore an excellent basis for the production of materials applied in construction, agriculture, and environmental projects.
