Cement Plant Lietavská Lúčka has a rich tradition in the production of construction materials. With over a century of history, it is the second oldest cement producer in Slovakia. In 2024, the company became part of the ZEOCEM Group, which specializes in the production and sale of natural zeolite and construction materials. The merger with a strong construction materials manufacturer marks a return to cement production, expanding the production portfolio to include original cement products. The new portfolio complements the company’s existing focus on milled limestone production.
Its strategic location near a major transportation hub, combined with an extensive fleet of trucks and rail wagons, enables efficient material deliveries to customers across Slovakia and the surrounding countries.
Lietavská Svinná – Babkov Quarry
One of the key raw material sources for Cementáreň Lietavská Lúčka is its own Lietavská Svinná – Babkov quarry. Situated near the plant, it contributes to efficient logistics and reduces transport costs as well as environmental impact.
The quarry supplies limestone, which is a crucial raw material for the company’s production program. The material is used in cement manufacturing, as a filler in plasters, and in concrete and mortar mixes. Limestone is also applied for subgrade stabilization in road construction and in agricultural applications.
Transport of the extracted raw material from the quarry to the processing plant is ensured by a material cableway system, representing an efficient and environmentally friendly solution within the entire production chain. This method minimizes the load on road infrastructure and reduces greenhouse gas emissions compared to other types of freight transport. The cableway also allows continuous and smooth material flow directly to the plant, optimizing the production process and improving the overall energy efficiency of the system.
